The brochures for Reston Place promised a dream retirement. For some, however, it’s about to become a nightmare.

A year after the death of his wife, seventy-eight-year-old Phil Persto moved to Reston Place for a rejuvenating fresh start. Instead, only days into his new life in Florida, he finds himself drawn into a seemingly impossible mystery. Patients in the community’s hospice unit are dying prematurely and methodically. Bodies are being quickly cremated and records destroyed. And now, his eighty-year-old neighbor, Emmaline Howard, has seen one of the victims—her body desiccated, with two puncture wounds in her neck.

Along with their friends Lamar and Lily, Phil and Emma feel compelled to discover who—or what—is behind the deaths and put an end to them.

Is it possible vampires exist and one is preying on the most defenseless at Reston?

Dorian Bloodwyn is no mindless monster. Eight centuries old, intelligent, cultured, and terrifyingly rational, he believes he is performing an act of mercy by ending the suffering of those already dying while he satisfies his monthly need for blood. His victims have little time left. Reston is the perfect hunting ground.

Four retirees must decide if they’re willing to risk their lives to stop a predator who has survived for centuries. They know one thing: no one has the right to steal even a second of someone else’s life—and they can’t walk away.

But can four retirees find—and slay—a vampire?
